The Reverend Hiram W. Lyon came to Saranac Lake for his health in 1925. He was the minister of the First Presbyterian Church of Saranac Lake from 1926 to 1937.

Tom Downs remembers that the Reverend Lyon was a youth leader who was known as "charismatic."
