Mrs. Isabel Lester Murphy of Saranac Lake was informed by the war department that her son, Lt. John E. Lester, was killed in action in Germany March 3.

Lt. Lester was an honor student at [[Saranac%20Lake%20high%20school|Saranac Lake high school]], and graduated in 1941. He entered the armed forces early in 1944 and was commissioned at Fort Benning Dec. 27. Lt. Lester served in England and Scotland before going into action in Germany and Belgium.

He went overseas on January 20. Lt. Lester was a graduate of [[Saranac%20Lake%20High%20School|Saranac Lake High School]] and St. Lawrence University."
