'''Marie Elizabeth Leis Pearce''' was the author of [[Henry%20P.%20Leis%3A%20The%20Man%20from%20Saranac%20Lake|Henry P. Leis: The Man from Saranac Lake]]. She was a daughter of [[Henry%20P.%20Leis|Henry P. Leis]] and [[Mary%20Disco%20Leis|Mary Disco Leis]].  Growing up, she lived at [[26%20Algonquin%20Avenue|26 Algonquin Avenue]] and the [[Leis%20Block|Leis Block]]. 

She graduated from Barnard College and Columbia Teachers College, and from the Yale College of Nursing. She became a registered nurse, living in Sutton Place in Manhattan. 

She married Paul C. Pearce in 1944, who she met when he was a soldier stationed at Governor's Island during [[World%20War%20II|World War II]]. They moved to Michigan, where they raised a family. Paul died in 1997. 

Her interest in genealogy led to the publication of her book about her father.
