Married: M. Frances Randolph, 1901.

The son of two hardworking German pioneers, Frederic William Miller was born into a large family on the family farm in Mapleton township, Minnesota, on February 12, 1874. He was educated at Parker College in Winnebago, MN before moving to Hillsdale, Michigan to study Greek at Hillsdale College. He taught Greek in Louisville, Kentucky and at Keuka College in New York. He married a math teacher (and student of piano) at Hillsdale College: M. Frances Randolph. They were married in 1901, but she died in Keuka Park on Christmas Day in 1904. The couple had no children.

On his September 1918 draft registration, Fred reported that he was not working because of his illness, and his death certificate notes that he had been living with TB since about 1908. According to his obituary, Fred was "a man of high aspirations, a noble character and wherever he lived or taught enjoyed the confidence and respect of the community."  Fred spent the last days of his life in a cure cottage in Saranac Lake where he had been receiving treatment for two years. Fred's sister Anna was with him when he died of the disease at 9 Forest Hill Avenue on November 13, 1918. He is buried next to his wife, (Margaret) Frances Miller (nee Randolph) at the cemetery in Keuka Park, New York.

Frederic's name sometimes appears as Frederick W. Miller, such as on his TB Society White Card from November 10, 1916.
