Cecil W. Rushlaw, formerly of Lake Colby, died early Saturday, at the Veterans Hospital in Syracuse.

He was born in Fort Covington, Sept. 5, 1909, the son of Arthur and Susan Dubray Rushlaw. He was married to Queenie Mary Prue, who died June 26, 1960. He was employed at the [[Camp%20Topridge|Post camp]] on [[Upper%20St.%20Regis%20Lake|St. Regis Lake]].

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in France and Germany. On Jan. 22, 1945, he was wounded while serving in France and was awarded the Purple Heart along with the European - African - Middle East Service Medal. He was also the recipient of the Good Conduct and Victory Metal of World War II and was discharged at Fort Dix on Nov. 3, 1945.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys Jewtraw Rushlaw, of 33 McKinley St., Lake Placid, where they make their home. Other survivors are daughters, Margaret Duso of Saranac Lake and Elizabeth Pickreign of Syracuse; two sons, John of Saranac Lake and Thomas of Battle Creek, Mich. There are also three brothers, Arthur of Saranac Lake, Ernest of Rochester and Roy of the State of Washington; four half-sisters, Bertha Ladue of Saratoga Springs. Marie Borden, Isabella Kennedy and Litta Jackson, all of Saranac Lake. There are 13 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A Rosary service was held Sunday at 8 p. m. at the Keough Chapel. A veterans service will be held at 7 o'clock this evening at the chapel, followed by a Roman Catholic Requiem Mass at 7:30 p. m. at the [[Methodist%20Church|Methodist Church]].

Interment will be in [[St.%20Paul's%20Cemetery|St. Paul's]] [[Bloomingdale|Bloomingdale]] on Tuesday at 10 a. m.
