<span>Between Camp Aradosia, [''sic'' (Arodasi); now [[Camp%20Forestcraft|Camp Forestcraft]]] where the Andersons are staying, and the Morton Camp [[[Pine%20Brook|Pine Brook]]], is located Cherokee Lodge, the property of W. H. Jackson of New York. One of the merriest parties inhabiting the lake camps this season is to be found here. Among others there now are Miss Jackson and her sister, Mrs. W. E. Woodford, besides Mrs. F. R. Bremner, Miss Knox and Pendalton Duffy. Mr. Woodford and Mr. Jackson will arrive this week, and expect to remain during the greater part of the summer. An additional cottage was built at this ramp this season to accommodate the friends of the Jacksons, and two naphtha launches are constantly in commission. These little boats, known as the ''<span>Cherokee'' and ''<span>Gilpin Bay'', are among the speediest on the lake.

<span>Early Sunday morning, Aug. 8, <span>George Nearbin, age 11, 62 E. Van <span>Buren St., Oswego, left for <span>Friendship-Opportunity Camp, <span>the Seventh-day Adventist Camp <span>Cherokee on Upper Saranac Lake. <span>He will be there for one week <span>enjoying swimming, boating, <span>mini-bike riding, crafts, horseback riding and mountain <span>hiking. Bible stories, skits and <span>songs are enjoyed each evening in <span>a special worship service held in. <span>the woods.

<span>This was all made possible by <span>the communities of Oswego and <span>Fulton. Each fall the Seventh-day <span>Adventist Church volunteers go to <span>houses in the community <span>soliciting funds to help with their <span>work.

<span>Sending a local child to <span>Friendship-Opportunity Camp is <span>just one of the many things these <span>solicited funds do. They also help <span>with the Dial-A-Prayer in Oswego <span>and in Fulton and with the <span>Community Services Center that <span>helps care for the needs of fire <span>victims and those in dire need.

<span>Five young people from <span>the Hannibal area attended <span>one of the week-long ses<span>sions at Camp Cherokee, <span>Youth Camp near Saranac <span>Inn, N.Y. according to Dar<span>leen Cook, director of the <span>Seventh-day Adventist <span>Community Services.

<span>Camp Cherokee is one of <span>60 youth camps operated by <span>the denomination in North <span>America.

<span>The 108-acre facility is <span>located on Upper Saranac <span>Lake and offers swimming <span>and water sports to those <span>attending.

<span>During the summer session, the camp, directed by <span>Robert Farley, Syracuse, <span>N.Y., with a staff of twenty, <span>offers six different sessions <span>generally geared to the age <span>of those attending. The for<span>mal camping season closes <span>with a family camp in late <span>August.

<span>Reading skills camp <span>Camp Cherokee will offer its <span>third seasons Reading Skills Camp, <span>August 20-25. Last year reading <span>progress averaged 2 years in only one <span>week of camp. This is a perfect time <span>to brush up reading skills for the <span>coming school year.

<span>Vince & Charlene Botticelli, from <span>Learning for Life Reading Centers, <span>will lead out in the Reading Skills <span>Camp for children 8 to 18 years. Each <span>child will also have a personal one-to-one tutor.

<span>This 5-day, overnight camp will <span>provide camp activities- such as <span>horseback riding, swimming, canoe<span>ing, water skiing, ceramics, crafts <span>and etc. -between reading sessions.
