SARANAC LAKE — Dennis L. Ryan, 77, of Sugarbush, died Friday, April 23, 1993, at the [[Adirondack%20Medical%20Center|Adirondack Medical Center]] at Saranac Lake.

Born April 11, 1916, in [[Alderbrook|Alderbrook]], he was the son of James and Elizabeth (Butler) Ryan. He attended school in Alderbrook and graduated from AuSable Forks High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army with the 33rd General Hospital in Africa and Italy.

He had been a resident of [[Sugarbush|Sugarbush]] for the past 45 years. He was a carpenter and worked for the [[Gendron%20Lumber|Gendron Lumber]] Company for many years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the carpenters' union Local No. 1042.

In 1948 he married Shirley DeLano in Saranac Lake.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Melinda Hadley of Sugarbush; two brothers, Joseph Ryan of Rome and Francis Ryan of Saranac Lake; two sisters, Catherine Craft of Rome and Elizabeth Manley of Florida; two grandsons and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Phillip of Peru, John of Massena and Edward of Sugarbush; and one sister, Mary Tyler of California.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the [[Fortune-Keough%20Funeral%20Home|Fortune-Keough Funeral Home]] in Saranac Lake with a Bible vigil service at 7:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at [[St.%20Paul's%20Church|St. Paul's Church]] in [[Bloomingdale|Bloomingdale]] with the Rev. [[Patrick%20Mundy|Patrick Mundy]] officiating. Burial will be in [[St.%20Paul's%20Cemetery|St. Paul's Cemetery]] in May.

Memorial donations may be made to [[North%20Country%20Life%20Flight|North Country Life Flight]] or the [[Saranac%20Lake%20Rescue%20Squad|Saranac Lake Rescue Squad]] in care of the funeral home.
