Fayette M. Moody, 71 years old, died Friday morning at his home on Upper Broadway at 5 o'clock. Death was due to apoplexy and came after Mr. Moody had been confined to his bed since Tuesday evening about 6:30 o'clock, when he suffered the stroke. Mr. Moody lost consciousness Wednesday morning about 4 o’clock and did not regain It again before he died. He had not been well for about four years.

Mr. Moody was one of the oldest residents in Saranac Lake, having been born here on March 11, 1844, and having lived here all his life, and in his present home, which he owned, for the past 45 years. He was the son of Harvey and Adeline Moody, who were among the original settlers in this district and came from from Vermont. At one time they owned all the property around Moody pond and a large part of Helen Hill.

Mr. Moody was well known in Saranac Lake having been highly respected in the community and well thought of by all who had dealings with him. He was one of the oldest guides living at the time of his death, was familiar with every foot of ground through the woods for many miles around, and had a knowledge of the woods and streams and of hunting and fishing that made him sought after as a guide by many of the most prominent sportsmen.

In his home life he was a loving father and a good husband and was loved and highly esteemed by all the members of his family. Mr. Moody was married on the fourth of July, fifty-one years ago and celebrated his golden wedding last year. He is survived by his widow, five sons, John C., Burton F., Leon R., Kenneth E., all of Saranac Lake, and Ward H., of Newburgh; three daughters, Mrs. L. W. Devine of New York, Mrs. J. H. Devine of Newburgh, and Mrs. Howard Knapp of Leominster, Mass.<span>  He is also survived by one brother, Robert Moody of Saranac Lake, and seven grandchildren… [remainder illegible]

<span>Fayette <span>Moody,<span> <span>one of the oldest <span>guides in the Adirondacks, died at his <span>home in Saranac Lake<span> <span>last<span> <span>Friday <span>morning, of apoplexy, aged 71 years. <span>He had resided<span> <span>at the Lake all his <span>life and was a fine old gentleman. He <span>knew every foot of the the ground in <span>the woods for many miles around and <span>was an expert in game matters and <span>woodcraft.
