'''Fern Island''', also known as '''Knobby Island''', is a nine-acre island in the central portion of [[Lower%20Saranac%20Lake|Lower Saranac Lake]].  Until the practice was ended in 1975, there were five [[Platform%20Tent|Platform Tent]] sites on the island. As a part of the [[Saranac%20Lake%20Islands%20Campground|Saranac Lake Islands Campground]], there are now four campsites.
