SARANAC LAKE — George H. Rottner, 58, of [[Vermontville|Vermontville]] passed away Thursday afternoon at the [[General%20Hospital%20of%20Saranac%20Lake|General Hospital of Saranac Lake]].

He was born in New York City March 11, 1919. a son of Henry and Louise (Hattig) Rottner.

Mr. Rottner lived in the area since 1939.

He was a plumber and steamfitter, and retired in 1971 from [[Latour%20Fuel%20Company|Latour Fuel Co]]. in Saranac Lake.

Mr. Rottner was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, the former Ellen Carey; four sons, Robert of Paul Smiths, Lt. Henry of Virginia, Shaun of Galveston, Tex., and Eric of Bloomingdale; two daughters, Mrs. Rosemary Primo of Birmingham, Ala., and Mrs. Diane LaFlame of Tupper Lake; three grandchildren.

Friends may call at the [[Fortune%20Funeral%20Home|Fortune Funeral Home]] at 7 to 9p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. A Bible vigil will be said at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mass of the Resurrection will be said at 11:15 Monday at [[St.%20Bernard's%20Church|St. Bernard's Church]] with the Rev. [[C.J.%20McAvoy|C.J. McAvoy]] officiating.

Burial will be in [[St.%20Bernard's%20Cemetery|St. Bernard's Cemetery]].

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
