<span>Isaac<span> <span>Livingston<span> <span>seems<span> <span>to<span> <span>have <span>been<span> <span>about<span> <span>the<span> <span>first<span> <span>resident of <span>Harrietstown, having settled in the <span>vicinity<span> <span>in 1819 even before it be<span>came<span> <span>Harrietstown.<span> <span>Jacob<span> <span>Moody <span>was just as early<span> <span>a settler, if not <span>earlier, but he lived in the portion <span>of<span> <span>the<span> <span>village<span> <span>that<span> <span>was in<span> <span>Essex <span>County rather than in the Town of <span>Harrietstown.

[[Jacob%20Smith%20Moody|Jacob Smith Moody]] was not only the first settler in what is now one corner of the village, but he was the first settler in the region. He came to it in 1819. At that time his nearest neighbor to the north was some ten miles away. This was Isaac Livingston, who was living on the [[https://localwiki.org/hsl/Northwest_Bay_Road|Northwest Bay Road]], about five miles beyond the later [[Leonard%20Nokes|Nokes]] settlement in West Harrietstown.
