John Swinyer, 59, who had been a resident of [[Gabriels|Gabriels]], died Monday afternoon in the Veterans Hospital at Albany where he had been a patient since Oct 21.

For ten years, Mr. Swinyer had been a caretaker at the W. E. [[Asplin%20Tree%20Farm|Asplin Tree Farm]]. He was a veteran of World War II with service in the Army Medical Detachment, 15th Field Hospital.

Survivors are his wife, the former Gladys Bova whom he married June 12, 1954 in Saranac Lake; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Helen Sawatzki of Saranac Lake and one grandchild, Gary McCalvin with the Air Force in Mississippi.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars of which he was a member will have a service this evening a 1 7:30 at the [[Fortune%20Funeral%20Home|Fortune Funeral Home]]. A Rosary Service will follow at 8 o'clock. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 7:30 p. m. Thursday evening at [[St%20Bernard's%20Church|St Bernard's Church]]. Burial will be in [[St.%20Bernard's%20Cemetery|St. Bernard's Cemetery]].
