'''LaVerne Strough''' was a TB patient who lived in Saranac Lake from 1911- c. 1927. 

Her father, [[Arthur%20Strough|Arthur Strough]], and her siblings moved here from Dolgeville, New York because LaVerne and her mother, [[Carrie%20Strough|Carrie Strough]], had TB. Her mother was ill for a year or so before they moved and may not have made it to Saranac Lake. 

Arthur remarried Anna (Patterson) Strough sometime between 1913 and 1918. Her sister and brother-in-law, [[Hazel%20Strough%20Paye|Hazel Strough Paye]] and [[Robert%20Paye|Robert Paye]], also lived here for many years. 

Arthur Strough and his friend [[Joseph%20LaBeau|Joseph LaBeau]] were killed in a tragic car accident in April 1922 on [[Bloomingdale%20Road|Bloomingdale Road]] near the [[Trudeau%20Sanatorium|Trudeau Sanatorium]]. 

LaVerne married Charles O. Blair of Chateaguay in September 1927 and they had two children, Kathryn (b. Aug 8, 1929-d. April 2005?) and Charles James Blair (b. Jan 28,1939-d.Nov 20, 1993) They moved to the Syracuse area in the late 1930s, eventually settling in Central Square. Charles passed away in 1980 and Laverne in 1988.
