A dinner will be held in the [[https://localwiki.org/hsl/Veterans_Memorial_Home|Veterans Memorial Home]] Nov. 3 for the benefit of the Saranac Lake [[https://localwiki.org/hsl/Jewish_Community_Center|Jewish Community Center]] Organ Fund.

The dinner will be prepared by Patsy Lario and [[https://localwiki.org/hsl/Freddy_Fortune|Freddy Fortune]], of the Brown Bear. They will serve the speciality of the house, spaghetti and meatballs. These are the chefs who served a similar dinner some time ago for the [[https://localwiki.org/hsl/Shamus_Club|Shamus Club]] which received for them many plaudits from the diners. Door prizes will be a feature of the evening.

The organ is badly needed at the center and many Christian families in Saranac Lake are working on this project with the Jewish members of the community.

The committee under the chairmanship of [[https://localwiki.org/hsl/Benton_C._Ressler|Ben Ressler]], is planning many events in order to raise the needed funds. The sum of $350 has been raised to date. The organ will cost about $2,000.

Patsy G. Laraio, of [[29%20Bloomingdale%20Avenue|29 Bloomingdale Ave]]., Saranac Lake died Wednesday morning at [[Saranac%20Lake%20General%20Hospital|Saranac Lake General Hospital]] at the age of 58.

The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the [[Keough%20and%20Son%20Memorial%20Chapels|Keough and Son Memorial Chapels]] where friends may call from 7 to 10 and 2 to 4 p. m. beginning this evening. An Elks service will be held at 7:30 p. m. Sunday, followed by a VFW service at 7:45 and a Rosary service at 8. A Requiem Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a. m. Monday at the [[Methodist%20Church|Methodist Church]]. Interment will be in [[St.%20Bernard's%20Cemetery|St. Bernard's Cemetery]].

Mr. Laraio had lived here since he was an infant. He served on an LST with the Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a former owner of the [[Brown%20Bear%20Restaurant|Brown Bear Restaurant]] and before his illness, was associated with the [[Belvedere%20Restaurant|Belvedere Restaurant]]. He also was a member of the American Legion and St. Bernard's Parish.

He was born in Utica on Feb. 22, 1911, a son of Rocco and Angiolina Urgo Laraio.

Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Joseph DelVecchio; two nieces, Mrs. Joan Kiernan of Elmhurst and Mrs. Mary VanDerVeer of Ramsey, N. J.; one grand-niece and three grandnephews.
