'''<span>Philip S. Dorlon, 80,<span> <span>Troy Manufacturer,<span> Dies Unexpectedly'''

<span>Philip S. Dorlon, president of the Troy Novelty Company, Inc., collar manufacturers, and one of that city's most prominent citizens, died<span> unexpectedly Monday evening in Samaritan Hospital there where he <span>had been taken earlier in the day.<span style=""> 

<span>Mr. Dorlon, who was 80 years of <span>age, was former United States Conciliator commissioner in this federal district and one of Union College’s<span>  most active graduates, having been a member of the graduate council for many years. He was graduated from Troy Academy in 1885 and Union College in 1889. 

<span>Joining the graduate council in 1914, he eventually became its chairman. In 1941 he was one of three<span> men to receive gold medals from the college for distinguished service to it.

<span>Mr. Dorlon began his business career <span>as an electrical contractor<span> <span>and engineer at a time when electricity was little used, especially in<span> <span>private homes. Several years later<span> <span>he turned to real estate and developed the Westover Road residential section in Troy.<span style=""> 

<span>In 1916 he became president of<span> <span>the Novelty Company. In 1938 the<span> <span>late Federal Judge Frank Cooper<span> <span>appointed him Conciliator Commissioner. His work concerned aiding farmers of the area who were<span> <span>in financial difficulties. He served<span> <span>for three years.<span style=""> 

<span>Mr. Dorlon had been a member<span> <span>of the Troy Rotary Club since 1928<span> <span>and was a past president. He was<span> a member of Delta Phi Fraternity, <span>King Solomon's Masonic Lodge and<span> <span>the Troy Chamber of Commerce.<span style=""> 

<span>He was a past director of the<span> <span>Troy Community Chest, the Salvation Army, that city, and the Troy<span> <span>Boys Club, of which he also had<span> <span>been vice president, and was also a<span> <span>director for many years of the Troy<span> <span>Automobile Club. He had served as<span> <span>vestryman in recent years of St.<span> <span>John's Episcopal Church in Troy.<span style=""> 

<span>Mr. Dorlon's wife, the former<span> <span>Lillian Cadbury, is dead. He is survived by five children, Philip S., Jr.,<span> <span>of Defreestville, Elias G., the 2nd,<span> <span>of California, John H., of Glens,<span> <span>Va. and Mrs. Matthew Meyer of<span style=""> <span>Washington, D. C.<span style=""> 

<span>Funeral services will be conducted<span> <span>Wednesday at 2:30 P. M. in St.<span> <span>John's Episcopal Church, The Rev.<span> <span>Bradford H. Burnham will officiate.<span style=""> <span>Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.<span style="">
