Robert Flanders, 51, a World War II Army veteran who was wounded at [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Monte_Cassino|Monastery Hill]], died suddenly yesterday at Brushton where he had lived for the past 15 years. Mr. Flanders served with the Army in North Africa, Sicily, and Italy. He had been a [[game%20protector|game protector]] for the State of New York and had retired.

He was born Dec. 8, 1915 in [[Rainbow%20Lake|Rainbow Lake]], a son of Charles and Doris Flanders. His wife, Doris, is deceased.

Mr. Flanders was a member of the Brighton Post, American Legion and a veterans service will be held for him at 8 o'clock this evening at the [[Fortune%20Funeral%20Home|Fortune Funeral Home]]. The funeral service will be at 2 p. m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. [[Daniel%20Partridge|Daniel Partridge]], pastor of the [[Saranac%20Lake%20Methodist%20Church|Saranac Lake Methodist Church]] officiating. Interment at [[Brighton%20Cemetery|Brighton Cemetery]] will follow the service.
