SARANAC LAKE — Velma M. Utting, 83, formerly of [[3%20Riverside%20Drive|3 Riverside Drive]] here, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone.

She had been a resident of William Mansion Nursing Home in Malone for the past two years.

She was born May 7, 1906, in Saranac Lake, the daughter of [[Benjamin%20O.%20Moody|Benjamin]] and [[Etta%20%28Anson%29%20Moody|Etta Moody]].

She was a lifelong resident of the village. She was a life member of the Order of the [[Eastern%20Star|Eastern Star]] and the Rebeccas. Her husband, Willard, died Aug. 15, 1976.

She is is survived by a brother, [[Oscar%20Moody|Oscar Moody]] of Monroe; Conn.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A son, Robert, died earlier.

There will be no calling hours. A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the [[Fortune%20Funeral%20Home|Fortune Funeral Home]], with the Rev. [[Fredrick%20Dennis|Fredrick Dennis]], pastor of [[St.%20Luke%20Church|St. Luke Church]], officiating. Burial will fellow in [[Pine%20Ridge%20Cemetery|Pine Ridge Cemetery]] here.
