SARANAC LAKE - Mrs. Betty P. Gowan, 70, died early Monday morning at Saranac Lake General Hospital. She had been a resident of the area for most of her life.

Mrs. Gowan was born March 11, 1910 in Owl’s Head, the daughter of Charles and Mary Paquin Pelkey. Her husband, [[Austin Gowan|Austin M. Gowan]], died in 1963.

She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Eller Shaw, Miss [[Norma Gowan]], with whom she had made her home, and Mrs. [[Ginger Lawless Hughes|Ginger Lawless]], all of Saranac Lake, Mrs. [[Joyce Elizabeth Lawson|Joyce Mattimore Lawson]] of Oregon, Wisconsin., and Mrs. Joan Ryan of Hollister, Cal.; two sons, Austin W.
