'''Ferdinand Walker Chase''', known as Ferd, built the [[Loon%20Lake%20House|Loon Lake House]] in 1879, operating it until his death in 1916.
He was born in Wheelock Hollow, Vermont, in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. ## Comments

''2012-06-26 16:57:19'' Very interesting. I work for an attorney in Kansas City, Missouri. While researching his great great grandfather, Harley P. Mathewson, I came across a letter that Ferd W. Chase sent to the Commissioner of the U.S. Pensioners(sp) in Washington DC. He was apparently trying to reach Harley P. Mathewson. The document is in the Genealogy Center - Our Military Heritage. Just thought that someone might be interested. The request was dated January 20, 1915. I found this site because the request was written on Loon Lake House letterhead. You can reach me at [[mailto:sheilatillman@gmail.com|sheilatillman@gmail.com]]
