Harold Chaffee, 85, Naumburg, a retired mason and farmer, died Dec. 9 at 4:30 p.m. at Sunset Nursing Home, Constableville, where he had been a patient since August, 1968.

He was born at Natural Bridge July 29, 1884, son of Rosell and Mary Chaffee and had lived 40 years in Lewis County. He retired in 1965.

Mr. Chaffee and Martha Zehr were married years ago. Mrs. Chaffee pre-deceased him.

He was a member of First Mennonite Church, New Bremen.

Mr. Chaffee is survived by two tons, Lloyd, Wanseon, Ohio, and Paul, Chaulsea, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Clover) Ferrance, Cicero; a sister, Mrs. Clinton (Sophie) Carpenter, Horseheads, 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
