Tent Platform Permit No. 1197 was held by John W. Gorgas and family from the 1940s through the 1970s. It was located at the northeastern end of Pope Bay.

Chris Gorgas, John's grandson, writes:

Sleeping up in the loft area, hearing the rain drumming on the canvas over chicken wire roof, is one of the best night's sleep you'll ever get!

My brother Keith knew the old lock tender up on the river heading up to Middle very well... Ken Seymour was his name... Keith took me to show Ken the day I caught my first bass, at the mouth of that river, using the Lazy Ike lure.
