Victoria Colby was a lifelong Saranac Lake resident and member of the local community.

Victoria L. Colby

Victoria “Vicky” L. (Hough) Colby, age 60, died on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023 at her residence with her daughter Rachael by her side.

Vicky was born on July 5, 1963 in Saranac Lake. She was the fourth of 7 children, the “middle kid” born to Richard A. and Theressa (Senkbeil) Hough, II.

Vicky was a talented musician, playing many instruments, but excelling on the clarinet. She entered many competitions during high school and placed well. She was part of the Vermontville Squares and enjoyed square dancing with lots of friends and family. She played high school volleyball and ran track, and played in the high school band, stage band, and in the North Country Community College band. Vicky worked several jobs and loved life to its fullest. She was an avid crocheter and thrilled many with her creations.

Vicky is survived by her daughter Rachael (Joe) Lanthier; her son Bobby Colby; and grandchildren Phoenix and Charleise. She is also survived by her sisters Lisa (Tom) Yakalis and Glenna (Joe) Whittemore; brothers Thomas, Darrell and Richard (Helena) Hough; as well as several nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews.

Vicky was predeceased by her parents, Richard A. and Theressa A. Hough, her sister Kim (Hough) Decker, and her grandson Torin.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church Street, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. At Vicky’s request, there will be no public calling hours or funeral services at this time.

Family and friends wishing to remember Victoria “Vicky” (Hough) Colby may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society in the hopes of a cure, in care of the funeral home.
