RICHARD MORSE DIES AT AGE 54

Richard Morse, 54, a former bobsledder, died yesterday at the Veterans' Administration Hospital in West Roxbury, Mass, where he had been a patient for several months.

Mr. Morse was brakeman on a two-man bobsled, driven by Tuffield Latour, for many years and the pair set several records, but just before they were to go to Europe to take part in meets there, Mr. Morse injured his back in a bobsledding accident and gave up the sport. He had been employed at Downing & Cane's Restaurant for about ten years before his illness.

He was born on June 8, 1907 in  Schuylerville, the son of Henry and Ethel Moody Morse and came to Saranac Lake as a youth. Survivors are three sisters. Mrs. Gerald McDonald of Marathon, Mrs. John Andree of Warren, Pa. and Mrs. Paul Connors of Saranac Lake, and a brother, Arthur, of Suffield, Conn.

There will be a funeral service, at 2 p.m. Friday at the Keough and Son Funeral Home with Dr. Lionel R. Driscoll, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery.
