William Henry Coffin, Jr.'s father, William Coffin had a camp on Upper Saranac. His wife had died there in 1883 of a lung ailment. Seven years later, he sent his son William Henry Coffin, Jr., to cure in Saranac Lake until 1890. He was 21 years old and cured at Baker Cottage. Coffin then went to cure in tents in Colorado Springs. He died there of TB in 1900 when he was in his early thirties. (See [at Find A Grave].) He left behind a young family.
