Dawn Andrea (Prentiss) Svocak grew up in Saranac Lake. She was an art student at SUNY Plattsburgh when she was murdered in 1984. Reported missing on August 17, 1984, her body was found in a cornfield near the intersection of State Route 9 and Stafford Road in the Town of Beekmantown on September 21 that year.
