Witherspoon/Bryant Cottage
Witherspoon/Bryant Cottage

Address: 52 Park Avenue/4 Baker Street

Old Address: 117 Park Avenue

Other names:

Year built: 1910

Architect:

Other information: A Colonial Revival-style residence that was one of seven cottages in Saranac Lake that had contracts with the Veterans Administration for care of tubercular veterans.

The Witherspoon/Bryant Cottage is listed as a contributing building to the Cottage Row Historic District.

The small two-story building on this lot on the corner of Park Avenue and Baker Street, apparently a stable, is now in use as a residence. Though it is not apparent in the photos, its presence may account for the 4 Baker Street address.

A fire occurred in a first-floor apartment at 4 Baker Street (almost certainly the large apartment house) on January 11, 2021, as was reported on the front page of the Adirondack Daily Enterprise on January 12, 2021, but it appears not to be a total loss, though with smoke damage throughout the building.
