Lucy Sandella (nee Cozzolina) came to Saranac Lake on or around March 27, 1936 to seek treatment for tuberculosis, but unfortunately her cure was unsuccessful. She died at age 23 after battling TB for a year. She received a pneumothorax operation on June 5, 1936, and was treated by Dr. Elmer Highberger. She was staying at 9 Front Street when she died, and was buried in St. Bernard's Cemetery.
Information provided by her niece, Linda Goodell, in 2021, and from her death certificate filed with the Village of Saranac Lake.
