Several years ago Sol Drutz purchased the building between the Potter Block and the Bowling center, formerly occupied by the Empire Market, and reconditioned the property to house one unit of the Drutz chain of grocery stores. Mr. Drutz plans to build a new front to the building at a later date. Mr. Drutz owns the building, and H. Drutz, Inc., the business.

Adirondack Daily Enterprise, March 11, 2014

A third-floor apartment in the No. 1 Chinese Restaurant building was gutted by fire on February 1, 2014. All the building's residents evacuated safely, but the building suffered smoke and water damage on the two lower floors. The restaurant has been closed for business since the fire.
