Cpl. Francis Buckland was a World War II veteran. He was a son of James and Carry (Vestegard) Buckland.

SARANAC LAKE — Francis Buckland, 78, formerly of 77 1/2 Lake Street, died Sunday, June 4, at the Uihlein Mercy Center, where he had lived since 1986.
He was born Dec. 17, 1910, in Saranac Lake, the son of James and Carry (Vestegard) Buckland.
Buckland was a lifelong resident, of Saranac Lake and was employed as a foreman for Union Pacific Railroad for many years, retiring in 1967. He served in the Army, and was a veteran of World War II.
His wife, Mary Ellen Martell, predeceased him.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Mrs. Doris Landry of Saranac Lake; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Calling hours will be held at the Fortune Funeral Home from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
