Marie Elizabeth Leis Pearce was the author of Henry P. Leis: The Man from Saranac Lake. She was a daughter of Henry P. Leis and Mary Disco Leis. Growing up, she lived at 26 Algonquin Avenue and the Leis Block.
She graduated from Barnard College and Columbia Teachers College, and from the Yale College of Nursing. She became a registered nurse, living in Sutton Place in Manhattan.
She married Paul C. Pearce in 1944, who she met when he was a soldier stationed at Governor's Island during World War II. They moved to Michigan, where they raised a family. Paul died in 1997.
Her interest in genealogy led to the publication of her book about her father.
