Margaret A. Goodman, 90, of Paul Smiths, died Saturday, April 25, 2020, at Elderwood of Uihlein in Lake Placid following a brief illness.

Born in Saranac Lake on May 23, 1929, she was the daughter of Frank and Pauline (Lalone) Furlong. Margaret married Francis Stub Goodman on Wednesday, May 19, 1948, in St. Paul’s Church in Bloomingdale. He predeceased her on Nov. 3, 1988.

Margaret was a lifelong resident of the area and had worked at Marjorie Merriweather Post’s camp, Camp Topridge on Upper St. Regis Lake, and later started at Paul Smith’s College in 1972, where she worked until her retirement, then worked part time in the PSC cafeteria until May 2019. She was an avid knitter and member of the Monday night ladies group at the Brighton Town Hall. She also participated in the water aerobics class at Paul Smith’s College.

She is survived by her daughter Sandra Peria and husband Tom of Saranac Lake, her daughter Sharon Duggan of Dewitt, her son James Goodman of Gabriels and her son William Goodman and wife Susan of Gabriels, seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Frank, and her sister Gloria Daunais.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A graveside service will take place at a later date at Mountain View Cemetery in Gabriels.
