Plattsburgh Daily Press, October 3, 1929

A large circle of friends was grieved yesterday to learn the death of Emerson W. Lewis of 31 Draper Avenue. Mr. Lewis passed away at his home at 8 o'clock in the morning, following a long illness. He was 59 years of age.

Mr. Lewis was a man who always had a smile and a cheerful word for everyone he met, and his loss will be long and deeply felt by all who knew him. Born near Chazy, he moved early in life to Saranac Lake, but came here about 23 years ago and had lived here ever since. He was employed as a salesman by various companies in this district, his last position having been with the Plattsburgh Feed Company. He was a member of the Masons.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Thomas W. Lewis of Plattsburgh and George Lewis of Montreal, and one daughter, Mrs. Irvin R. Hawkins of Washington, D.C.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow, but final arrangements are to be announced later.
