Rachel Rae E. Berger was a patient at a cottage in Saranac Lake for not quite a year, about 1915. She was from Ringoes, New Jersey. Her engagement was broken when she was diagnosed with TB; she never married.

After her cure, she returned to Ringoes, she became a postmistress. She also worked as a school teacher.
