Married: Philura Hayes (1816-1886)

Children: Lydia C. Toof (1834-1923), Mary H. Toof (1842-1903), Ebenezer Wellington Toof (1848-1898), Emma Toof (1856-1938)

Charles Stewart Toof was the first settler of the Town of St. Armand, arriving in 1842 to engage in lumbering. He named the town after his home in Quebec, according to [article by John Duquette].  Before 1920 the Bloomingdale Bog was known as the Toof Marsh.
