According to an early map of the Paul Smiths Hotel property, the Osgoode School on the shore of Osgoode Lake [sic] was formerly used as a Golf Club House, then as a school, and then as a private dwelling.

Allen Van Winkle, the interscholastic sprint champion of Brooklyn, is spending the summer at the Osgood School for boys on Osgood Lake, near Paul Smiths.
