Lotta R. Tinkham Griffith was reported to be the first visiting nurse in the State of New York. She came to Saranac Lake pre-1940. She and her husband served as resident caretakers for the Stevenson Cottage, an occupation which she continued after his death in 1927. She is buried in Pine Ridge Cemetery.
