Paul Smiths is a hamlet in the Town of Brighton near Lower Saint Regis Lake.  It formed initially around Paul Smith's Hotel in the 1860s, which operated until 1930.  The hotel property became the site of Paul Smith's College in 1946, and the hamlet continued to grow.
