Howard “Rusty” Frizzell, age 88, passed away at home with his children around him on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022.

Born in Somerville, Massachusetts on July 22, 1934, he was the son of Howard and Peggy Frizzell. Rusty married Angie Marks on Dec. 18, 1955 at St. Joseph’s Church in Somerville, Massachusetts. She predeceased him on Oct. 13, 2021.

Rusty worked over 30 years as a school bus driver for Saranac Lake Central School District. He especially enjoyed driving to the football and hockey games as he loved watching the teams play.

He also worked at S. Curtis Hayes for a number of years as a real estate agent. He was part of the Winter Carnival Court in 1980, serving as the chamberlain, his daughter Sharon was on the high school court the same year.

He loved his sports, playing hockey and softball well into his ’70s. After retirement, he and Angie enjoyed their winter trips to Florida. You could often find him driving around town in one of his convertibles on a nice day.

He was so thankful for his Honor Flight trip in September of 2019 as a Korean War veteran. Rusty loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will forever be our loving dad and papa.

He is survived by two daughters, Sue (Butch) Blanchard of Saranac Lake and Sharon Branch and her fiance Mario of North Kingstown, Rhode Island; two sons Alan (Grace) Frizzell of Lake Placid, and Steven Frizzell of Saranac Lake. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Ryan (Nikita) Blanchard of Bloomingdale, Kelsey (Dave) Mathis of Lake Clear, Emily Branch of Providence, Rhode Island, Maxine (Jerry) Girard of Port St. Luci, Florida, Adrianne Frizzell of Adams and Alex Frizzell of Charlotte, North Carolina, seven great-grandchildren Georgia and Mabel Mathis, Remington Blanchard, Bentley, Roman, Macen and Silas Girard, many nieces, nephews.
