Wilhelm Gump and his wife met as chemists in Hamburg, Germany. They then moved to St. Louis and had a son, Frank. After, they went back to Germany where Linda was born in Dresden. Wilhelm came to Saranac Lake in 1933, where the family lived in staff housing at Trudeau Sanatorium. Their last son, Dieter, was born in Saranac Lake the same year. They left Saranac Lake in 1935, but they came back during the summers and rented a house on Trudeau Road.
Linda and her husband Jim Marshall keep a camp on Upper Saranac Lake where they can be found every summer.
