William A. Walton was in a hardware partnership with George L. Starks and Michael J. Callanan in 1895. After five years, he sold his interest to those two men, and on March 31, 1906, he and Henry H. Tousley formed Walton and Tousley Hardware, Inc. A Republican, in the early 1900s he represented Harrietstown on the Board of Supervisors, and served as president of the Saranac Lake Federal Savings and Loan Association. 2 He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He died of Bright's disease (kidney failure).
