Claude L. Sweet

SARANAC LAKE - Claude L. Sweet of Gabriels died Monday, May 4, at the General Hospital of Saranac Lake.

He was born June 11, 1897 in Brandon, the son of David and Mary (Tyler) Sweet.

His wife, Ruth, died in 1954.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Isabella Callaghan of Tupper Lake; two sons, Timothy of Uhricsville, Ohio, and Wayne of Albuquerque, N.M.; 15 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Mr. Sweet had been a Gabriel's resident for 60 years, and had been employed as a carpenter before his retirement.

Calling hours will be held today from 7 to 9 p.m., and again tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Fortune Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. John McClester, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Brighton Cemetery.
