Ruth Laundry was a World War II veteran.  She and her husband operated the Pine Grove Restaurant in Loon Lake from 1957 until they retired in 1985.

She was born in Union Falls, a daughter of Walter and Marguerite (Collins) Hough.

She was the tax collector for the Town of Franklin for many years.
