From Tying Flies to Scaling Mountains
Appearances are deceiving enough these days when males and females blend in a look alike kind of half sex but Sue Dyer who was practically hatched a boy retains her feminine mystique extremely well.
She has hunted rattlesnakes, scaled the highest peaks- competed in pistol and rifle matches, fished the most turbulent streams in the east and cuts her own firewood with a double bitted axe . . . and all because her father, a Pennsylvania forest ranger, brought her up to stand firm on even terms with the posturing, strutting male.
Sue expects to begin teaching the art of tying flies at the North Country Community College in February if enrollment in the course hits the minimum figure requirement. She was born in Dell City, Oklahoma, which is fairly rugged country to begin with but her growing up years were spent in Pennsylvania. She finds the Adirondacks much to her liking and she and her husband Ed Dyer, a State trooper, hope to call Saranac Lake their home for keeps…
