Gordon R. Sawyer was a [War II veteran].  He was a son of Jerry Ned and Dorothy Tyler Sawyer.  He was a carpenter.

Gordon R. Sawyer

Gordon Reginald Sawyer, 46, died suddenly this morning while being taken to the Saranac Lake General Hospital by the Rescue Squad. His home was at 20 Marshall Street.

Mr. Sawyer was born March 4, 1920 in Paul Smiths, a son of Jerry Ned and Dorothy Tyler Sawyer. He was married on April 5, 1942 in Redford to Alma Charbanneau, who survives. He was a carpenter and a member of the carpenter's union and had served in World War II with the Air Force Medics. Mr. and Mrs. Sawyer had lived in Saranac Lake for seven years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his mother who now lives in Saranac Lake; six daughters, Judy, Susan, Regina, Bonnie, Sharron and Donna, and a son, Gordon, Jr., all at home; three brothers, Glenster and Jerry of Rochester and Bruce of Gabriels; and five sisters, Mrs. Barbara LaMay of Paul Smiths, Mrs. Bula Law and Mrs. Marie Tolbert of Saranac Lake. Mrs. Joyce Crary of Tupper Lake, and Mrs. Janet Lyeth of Rochester.

Friends may call at the Fortune Funeral Home where the Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Sunday. A funeral mass will be offered at 9 a.m. Monday at St Bernard's Church. Interment will be in May in St. Bernard's Cemetery.
