Lower Saranac Lake was referred to by the Native Americans as the “Lake of the Clustered Stars,” which may have referred to the abundance of islands.

Lower Saranac Lake (Lake of the Clustered Stars) was honored and represented on the 79th Winter Carnival, which was held in 1976.
