Augustus Goodspeed was a Civil War veteran, having served as a member of Co D 17 Regiment, Vermont Volunteers.  He is buried in Goodspeed Cemetery.

He was a son of Nathaniel Goodspeed and '[Goodspeed].  He had ten siblings.  He was the Postmaster of Franklin Falls from May 9, 1867 to January 31, 1869.
