Celeste Thieriot was a patient in Saranac Lake, where she lived in the Santanoni Apartments in 1919. Her mother, Pauline Thieriot, was hit and killed by a train at the Margaret Street crossing that year. Pauline and her daughter had been at Saranac Lake for four weeks, due to Celeste's ill health after several months overseas as a Red Cross worker.
