Leontine Celeste Thieriot served on the board of the Saranac Lake General Hospital for many years starting in 1948.  She also served as president of the Village Improvement Society in 1946.

MRS. DEMAREST DIES

Mrs. L. Celeste Thieriot Demarest died today in a New York hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of L. McGregor Demarest.

Mrs. Demarest came to Saranac Lake in 1919. seriously ill after ambulance service in World War I. Following her recovery she became interested in the General Hospital, served on its board for many years and was president in 1936 and 1937. She was named Woman of the Year in Saranac Lake in 1949.

A memorial service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Darien, Conn. Saturday at 11 a.m. Her family requests memorial gifts to Saranac Lake General Hospital in lieu of flowers.
