Dorothy Palmer Hines

Born: May 18, 1911
Died: June 12, 1975
Married: Eugene Septimus Quintano
Children: Ann Quintano, Gene Quintano, Francesca Quintano
Dorothy Palmer Hines Quintano cured in Saranac Lake from 1935 to 1942 at 5 Shepard Avenue and 28 Front Street (Hoebling cottage). Her married name was Dorothy Quintano.
Her daughter Ann Quintano visited Saranac Lake in 1994 to try to find the cottages. She has photos of Hoebling Cottage before demolition, all boarded up. She has photos of her mother outside of 5 Shepard.

Dorothy wrote a book, No Wind of Healing, published in 1946 by Doubleday and set in Saranac Lake cure cottages. A review that year by the American Journal of Nursing notes: "To anyone who has had treatment at Saranac Lake this book will evoke vivid memories of the sights and sounds associated with that town of nursing and cure cottages and nearby sanatorium. Mrs. Hines has these scenes developed to an acute degree. The author is to be congratulated on her attempt to tackle in this her first novel, a subject as complicated as this and her handling it so sympathetically and skillfully. She is a crusader in a good cause."
In 2015, Ann sent Historic Saranac Lake a copy of No Wind of Healing and some photocopies of photos of her mother in Saranac Lake.
