'[Hammond White] was a Civil War veteran, a member of Company A, 61st Regiment, New York Volunteers.  He was a son of Silas and [P.] and Susan B White.

His grave in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery has a Grand Army of the Republic marker with the years 1861-1865.
